I don't think that a launch would be delayed simply because word had got out that the channel would be launching.

My contacts at VM over the years have mostly given me the impression that they don't care about leaks (after all, Sky viewers simply monitor off EPG tests to get a heads up on what's coming to their platform). If anything, they are often amused by some postings! A "leak" of this nature is, after all, simply advance knowledge that a channel is coming to the platform. Most carriage agreements don't forbid platform operators from disclosing that a channel is due to arrive and whilst it may be viewed by some as unprofessional, at the end of the day it does help to reduce churn by attracting and retaining customers.

The only exception to this that I know of was BT Sports.

In the main, adding a new channel is viewed simply as an administrative matter by VM. If someone gets to know a little early that The Africa Channel +1 is starting, it's no big deal, in fact a little extra free publicity is probably welcomed by both parties.

VM are aware of and do monitor forums such as this for many and varied reasons. The main reasons are to ensure that staff are interacting with customers, suppliers etc appropriately and to try to gauge a cheap and easy (but rough) idea of public opinion etc. CBS Drama was not an expensive channel to buy and many people were asking for it on forums. The fact that it was added to the platform was not a mere coincidence

Now, having said all that I have found that people are being tight lipped about Sky Atlantic and nobody knows anything about Baby TV going into XL.

If SA does arrive, maybe a big advertising blitz is planned??
