I've never bought a lottery ticket or a scratchcard. I've never been in any syndicate I was invited to. I did win a lotto ticket in an office competition once. The numbers didn't come up.
By my calculation, I've saved myself £1 for every week the Saturday night draw has existed, compared to any of my several acquaintances who buy one ticket a week. I reckon I'm about £1,000 up, minus any occasional £10 wins.
