Mines pretty much bottom of the range but packed with features that I will actually use. It's only 5.1 but my thinking was get a cheap one now to last me a few years and upgrade to a better 7.1 + 4K in the future. TX-NR414 is the model.
Got a Pioneer Sub with it, 160 watt peak but think that means in reality it's 100.
Never really got in to all the audio stuff before and just wanted something better than the tv speakers and didn't want a soundbar. The DLNA means I can play music from the NAS directly or do it through XBMC or even on the phone. Loving the Vtuner, was so simple just to choose Ambient music and it just streams perfectly
Still lots to setup and play with but CEC seems to be working, my tv remote can control the amp and the Pi/XBMC connected to it.
