Re: Boxing 2013
This post applies to both Boxing and MMA.
Just a write-up about my earlier conversation regarding the decisions in the Mayweather fight.
I know there's always been speculation about rigged fights but over the past two years I've witnessed some absolutely ridiculous judging and some highly suspicious 'knockout's' in both Boxing and MMA.
My problem with this is no one seems to care. Which is fair enough but this isn't WWE, it's two legitimate sports that you can gamble on.
Example one: Timothy Bradley vs Manny Pacquiao. 115-113, (115-113 Bradley)
Winning score: 115-113 Bradley. All three judges scored the fight with the same score. It wasn't in a million years close to that. A female judge who we'll come to later cast the 115-113 in favour of Bradley and she links right in with this later on. The fight was a clear points dominant win for Manny and has since been rescored as the resolution to this case. Firstly, how on earth did three scores like that end up as the result? secondly stripping someone of a world title but allowing them to remain the victor of a fight like that just doesn't cut it and the fairest outcome would be to simply overturn the result into Manny's favor or fairer yet, no contest.
Now to expand on this, Bradley then went onto face Ruslan Provodnikov, a relatively unknown kid that absolutely battered Bradley but Bradley got lucky and escaped on points. So a man with the power and reputation of the Pacman couldn't leave a scratch on Bradley but some unknown Russian Kid from the Freddie Roach camp leaves him on the mat after the first round?
Bradley's being pushed as the next mayweather, except he has little skill apart from speed and a Chin similar to that of his clone, Amir Khan. Bradley has Marquez up next and I can't help but feel this is another rigged fight that'll see Marquez lose ridiculously on points as they continue to push Bradley to the top.
Example 2: Michael Bisping vs Chael Sonnen (UFC) 30-27, 30-27, 30-27
Winner faces Anderson Silva
This one had fix written all over it before it had even started with people declaring that if it went to points there's simply no way Dana White would miss out on Sonnen vs Silva 2. Surely enough it went to the judges. Bisping dominated with a jab and a few punches comfortably for 3 rounds whilst Sonnen had a few takedowns but failed to produce anything to damage Bisping at all. So to sum it up, Bisping punched away at him whilst Sonnen effectively did nothing for 3 rounds. Times up and Sonnen wins by a landslide. Dana White got his wish and a hefty bunch of UFC fans went crazy with the judging. Dana White responded and always has with 'Never leave it to the judges' Really? If you don't trust judges either then why are they scoring this stuff? again Dana White ignored the criticism and it went on. Basic way to put this, unless Bisping knocked Sonnen out there was simply no way he was getting Silva.
Example 3: Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman (Chris Weidman wins by TKO)
Probably the most ridiculous knockout I've ever seen, weeks after Anderson Silva claiming he's bored of being a champion and so on ends with him on the mat after dancing in front of his opponent, no I'm not exagerating either, he was literally dancing in front of him. The best fighter on the planet was taken out with a half decent hook at best. I find that hard to believe
especially given his comments in the build up naturally the reaction was immense with Dana White giving his usual no nonsense BS speech. Then surprise surprise we have a rematch this year that will sell twice as much. Come on Dana, it's getting a bit suspicious now.
Example 4: Floyd Mayweather vs Saul Alvarez (Judge C. J. Ross scored the fight 114–114, a draw. Judge Dave Moretti had it 116–112, and Craig Metcalfe scored it 117–111)
Facts: Mayweather dominated from start to finish in his usual style and it was a landslide victory. Yet somehow a female judge managed to pull out a 114-114 score. I find that astonishing. Now this is the link between example one and example 4, this very same woman also scored Pacman's loss to Bradley. So in a year she's brought up two astonishing scorecards and no one in the sporting authority has questioned this at all. This is the most blatant attempt in a possible match fix out of all examples listed and the most high profile in a very long time. This is a corrupt woman that's attempting to influence the outcome of a professional boxing match and somewhere out there you have people making a lot of money from this woman.
C.J Ross has since taken a self imposed leave from boxing. That's no good, she's effectively influenced two recent fights and is just going to walk away? She should be arrested and investigated for corruption.
Notable mentions: Amir Khan vs Lamont Peterson (Peterson on points)
Peterson later tests positive for PED's but Khan still has a loss rather than a No contest. The best they can offer is a vacated belt and continue to allow Peterson to fight without any significant punishment. The fight also seen a judge apparently change his scorecard after influence from a person behind him.
Final thoughts: Three Non-American judges should be in charge of Bradley vs Marquez.
