Re: Very slow downloads, have I been capped?

[RESOLVED]

Okay, I have been using CISCO routers for years and I have never know them to be sensitive to router names...? Because you cannot put a space in the center of a two worded name. I put a - which I think threw the modem into Numpty Mode because changed the router name without spaces or - and also left the Local Network Host Name as default and now the download speeds are back to normal. I ran a bandwidth test and I am now hitting what I should be hitting. So testing the SH#2 was down to me not rebooting the cable modem, so I have put that down to cache.

I know this is probably a long shot but it has resolved the hideous download speeds. I just downloaded TC Ghost Recon FS, Metro Last Light and Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and the results were.

Current Network Usage
15.5 MB/s Download Rate
15.5 MB/s Peak Downloaded Rate
24.2 Total Downloaded (DLC Packs increases TD)

HAAPIS: Happy as a ? "I'll leave the rest to your imagination."

I never want to go through that again.

There has always been a borderline between people saying too low and needs to be higher for DS ideally between -1.5 and -2.5 is ideal depending on which part of the network you're on and which part of the UK you're in.

Ideally Newport West for example -5.6 isn't that bad -10 would have consequences on the connection and -15 would cause the modem to power cycle all the time.
