The performance between different makes & models of receiver can be very significant with regard to reception sensitvity, which is why it is always preferable to use an outdoor aerial. The fact that you are only getting 15 to 20 channels may mean the reception you are getting is from a low power relay transmitter, which will compound set top antenna problems.
