Re: Depression and the Dangers surrounding it.

I agree totally with Halycon, but it's not always that easy. A lot of the cut backs have hit this kind of service hard so getting help isn't as straight forward. You might have to wait 6 months+ to seen, then it could be only 6 sessions which is quite pointless.

You do have to fight your own corner which isn't easy when you're going through it yourself, when all you want to do is give up. There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to getting help.

I'm in the process of going through the pain management dept and they have their own psychotherapy which is an ongoing service, and without that kind of help I would be on my own so to speak. I'd dread to think now not having that hope / help. Some days, more often that not I feel that I'm hanging on the thinnest of threads. But often people with suicidal thoughts are not seen as a risk. I personally take comfort with suicidal thoughts as it is a coping mechanism, it is sometimes and very often a normal response and part and parcel of certain problems.

People often wonder why I can't talk to my wife but that isn't the case, the effect is totally different as to when you talk to someone independent. I talk to my wife constantly and she does understand but it's nothing like talking to a professional. And on top of that at least it's recorded medically too.

Take every day as it comes and use any reason possible to keep going is all I can say.

And finding someone else with depression to talk to will help far more than talking to someone who doesn't understand.
