SH1 Problem

I've been getting a smaller and smaller range on my SH1 for months now and yesterday the wireless signal completely went so I phoned VM this morning and the chap did some tests and said it was working fine from his end (how can he test my wireless signal)
anyway he refused to send someone out as he said VM don't advertise you get wireless internet so if it's working fine on a wired pc that all they are entitled to do.
is this right? or should I call back and get someone else
