Re: Email problems?
I started that thread that Big-Gaz linked to.
The common factors seem to be: -
1. Getting error 0x800CCC0F sometimes when checking for new mail.
2. Slow download speeds when downloading emails.
3. Slow log in to webmail. When I log in, the progress bar that appears takes much longer to reach 100% than it did before these problems started.
Initially, VM staff went down the "it must be your settings" route, which is a sensible starting point, but it quickly became apparent that it's nothing to do with users' email settings.
People continued to complain and say that the issue was affecting them and on July 9th, a VM employee said that the issue had been escalated and a ticket had been opened (F002527705).
Nobody from Virgin replied to the thread for over 20 days, despite people asking for updates. Then a couple of days ago, the community manager posted to say that he was in touch with the email team and would be posting an update as soon as he had more info.
Today, I visited the forum and in another thread related to the exact same issue, a VM staff member has said that ticket F002527705 has been closed, because it was decided that it was users' email settings that were to blame after all and now we're back to square one again.
My email settings haven't changed in years. My settings are exactly as they should be, according to the web page that VM staff have linked me to. VM are quickly becoming the most frustrating company to deal with. It can takes days or even weeks to get a response from someone on the forums. Phoning the call centre is largely a waste of time as you get fobbed off with lies and promises that issues will be fixed soon, just to get you off the line.
