Bit confused as to how Atlantic is a basic channel and the best thing since sliced bread... basics are bog standard channels surely?

He doesn't mean a basics channel. Sky's channel line up is split in to two, Basics and Premium. There are 2 contracts for the channels with Virgin, one for Sky1, Living,Arts, News, SS News. And another for sports and movies.

Atlantic falls under the basics package, currently all Sky basics are available in SD from M+ and HD in XL
