Surely with DOCSIS used elsewhere, they could have found an excellent device "off the peg" and just done the usual "lock half the menus" thing, or is it a case of "how cheap can you build it" ... now take something else out!
4/5 stars surely is decent enough? And besides, reading the review their main criticism is that it's "largely featureless" which is exactly what you're saying - get an existing piece of equipment that's decent and lock half of the menus. Sounds like that's what Virgin has actually done.
