I hope it's OK to add a bit to this thread:
The engineer was a bit concerned as I had used rechargeable batteries in the old remote - he said that, as the power in the batteries became depleted, the signal sent by the remote would alter. This really does sound like a silly query but surely this would only, possibly, have an effect when the remote was used
The engineer was even concerned as we have some low energy light bulbs as even they can effect the V++ box - has anyone experienced problems with that (this wasn't relevant to our issue as the V++ box has malfunctioned when the light was not switched on
