Usually the boxing calendar dries up between the end of July and the middle of September. This period seems to be the British boxing summer holiday. That's what makes the Cleverly Vs. Kovalev fight on the 17th August so unusual. It's the only event on British soil between the 27th July to the 7th September!
Anyway the point I'm trying to make is last year during the quiet summer period, a lot of Boxnation subscribers left. I don't think Boxnation want the same summer exodus, especially with BT sports launching at the same time trying to attract sports fans to their service. I think Boxnation are simply trying to tie customers down for the rest of the year.
I don't think boxnation are struggling for funds, if the Daily Mail is to be believed:

"Sky had appeared to be on the brink of establishing a monopoly with Hearn until Box Nation found millions more in funding."
