Like it or not the future of games will mostly be digital downloads in the coming years and that is what Microsoft are pushing towards , Sony probably would have followed suit but not being able to get the Sony cloud ready to roll until sometime in 2014 may have had something to do with it. The ps controller is awful , absolutely useless on fps games ( my preferred gametype) , I'm just hoping that if I do eventually buy a ps4 one of the 3rd party controller makers might mimic the Microsoft one !!.

The option to add DRM for the publishers is the same situation we have now. It's not enforced by the console and without mandatory check-ins it's difficult to enforce. The problem with digital downloads via consoles is that it's a closed market so Microsoft or Sony could drive up the price. Steam has to compete with many other providers.
