If there is a price rise that applies to all customers (or a range of customers?), you get a 28 day window to cancel as far as I recall.

In this thread you say that you came back to Virgin Media six months ago, yet in a thread just over eight months ago you said the following:

Aye! I think I will phone them, its just we feel cheated in a way, because it was price increases from Sky that made us come back to V/M.

The original deal was £82 a month, now only 3 months later, here we are paying £88+, it seems we cant win?

Just so you see I'm not making this up, here is the post:
Getting how long you have been with a company two months wrong is not a biggie, easy mistake. The costs being complained about need to be accurate though.

If the original was £82 that went up to £88 in 3 months, it is possible that initial increase was one of virgins price rises (wasn't it 4 price rises last year?) and is in line with customers paying £2.50 to £7 more as some were reporting.

So 3 months in, going £82 to £88, leaves another 5 months for the further increase to £97. If no other services were taken and there are no extra telephone charges (084*, mobile or premium numbers) or additional movie purchases (kids?) then £11 in 5 months is pretty steep. £15 in 8 months is pretty bad too.

Lots of variables that need to be ruled out before the increase is blamed on virgin.
