The government is planning to enforce isp's to rollout ipv6 in their desire to give every connected device its own ip address. The bad news of course planning and action could be many years apart so that may not be happening any time soon either.

I'm certainly not disagreeing with that at all, but we all know what Virgin's like - if it saves them money in the short term, they'll probably ignore it. And it's not like they're getting a lot of new customers these days to be worried about running out, either.
