1. Incorrect.

They are completely omnidirectional in all planes. There are two aerials and at 90' to each other there is no interference. Theoretical separation of perfect antennas at 90' angles to each other is infinite, meaning zero interference of any kind.

2. I have opened three of them and they all have the same antenna configuration. Care to share where you saw one that was different?

The gain is near enough identical in all directions, bar the section to the front bottom which is blocked by the primary PCB.
