Looks as if you're correct re HBO. I was under the impression that US residents could sign up for a web version. Funnily enough, that does illustrate my point though. I believe that Game of Thrones was the most illegally downloaded TV show. If HBO provided a legitimate web subscription service, that may not have been the case?

With regard to POI, channel 5 stopped after S1E10 for around 3 months. There was no reason to, as all of Season 1 had already been shown in the US. So channel 5 just treated it badly

BTW, one good thing that Sky instigated was showing US drama very close to the US air date. Some other channels have followed their lead but Sky still show some shows quite a bit later, Nikita being an example; I watched the last few episodes of season 2 on US Netflix before Sky had shown the same episodes.
