After all the English clubs exited the Champions League at the last 16 stage, here's some “infobombing” about the impact on their revenue.

1. Even though English clubs have not done so well in 12/13, 3 of the 4 actually earned more CL revenue, thanks to increase in prize money.

2. Estimated CL 2013 revenue: MUFC €39m (2012 €35m), AFC €34m ('12 €28m), CFC €34m ('12 €60m), MCFC €32m ('12 €27m).

3. So 3 English teams get more from Champions League in 2013 (AFC €6m, MCFC €5m, MUFC €4m), while CFC get much less (€26m).

4. CFC will get money from parachuting into Europa League, but not much unless they reach the final, e.g. MUFC & MCFC got €1.2m last season.

5. Champions League revenue comprises prize money & TV pool. Prize money based on performance (stage reached), TV pool is more complicated.

6. CL prize money: group stage €8.6m + €1m for a win + €0.5m for a draw; last 16 €3.5m, QF €3.9m, SF €4.9m, finalist €6.5m, winners €10.5m.

7. CL TV pool: half based on progress in current season CL; half based on position in previous Premier League.

8. Champions League TV pool: previous season Premier League split is normally 1st place 40%, 2nd place 30%, 3rd place 20%, 4th place 10%.

9. Champions League TV pool: 2012/13 is different because of CFC CL win in 2011/12, so it is CFC 30%, MCFC 30%, MUFC 25%, AFC 15%.
