Not too much here overnight but seriously cold.
I must say I feel very sorry for those who got stuck out in their vehicles for hours and in some cases all night. Having said that, I heard Cheryl Baker on TV this morning banging on about how she and her hubby had been stuck in their car all night. I did feel sorry for them until I heard that they'd headed off into the night to collect their daughter who'd got stuck on a very icy hill, along with many others, somewhere miles away in Brighton. Don't get me wrong, I can fully understand their parental urge to assist their daughter but did they think to take some precautions in case they also got stuck somewhere like so many others? You know, extra warm clothing, blankets, food, hot drinks etc. etc. etc. Erm, that'd be a no... So they too went out and got stuck somewhere adding yet more misery and congestion to that which was already evident and thereby making the job of the emergency services even harder. Having got a bit peckish after hours going nowehere, they were apparently shocked to find that the only edible stuff available from the service station was bars of chocolate and bags of crisps? Quelle surprise...
Just found this concerning the incident:

Makes you wonder also whether they even checked the traffic news before they set out.
