Before the "French Only" rule, I was pulled over by a routine French motorway police patrol and asked for my driving licence. When he saw the Welsh writing his face dropped as he thought he was going to have to spend an eternity trying to be understood by a Welshman and vice versa.

Reminds me of a mate of mine who went on a trip to Paris. After two laborious days of trying to speak French, he realised he was simply speaking English with a French accent
