As a non sports fan, I have thought that it is unfair that XL subs pay for a premiun channel that would cost extra on Sky; a channel that is of no interest to non sports fans. But presumably the reason that VM does that, is to get more overall subscribers to XL. If they got rid of ESPN 'for free' in the XL pack, there would doubtless be fewer XL subscribers, and therefore less revenue to spend on new HD channels anyway.

If that isn't the case, ESPN should be charged for separately as a premuim channel, but I suspect that it is.
