Not yet as fit as I'd like to be, at 38 I guess I'm doing ok. I've decided that dropping from 15 stone to 12 and a half is enough now as some people have commented that the difference in me now is impressive but losing any more lard wouldn't look or be healthy. So far my running has been all about distances, so rather than win a race I just want to be able to complete it. As my running mate told me, needing to slow down to walk isn't quitting - stopping is quitting. When I go out with the top runners in the club I normally come last in a 6 mile run but the fact is I completed it so that's not too bad.
But now I need to start on speed and endurance so whereas a sub-40 time on a 5 mile x-country isn't too bad, I have to beat it next time

Never walk Ross no matter how hard it hurts, keep running even if you've slowed to walking pace as in my vast but now distant experience it was so much harder to get going again after walking.
