Same here, I just want to relax when I watch television, not be bothered with subtitles!

Re "refute the allegations" - you could have found this out for yourself, rather than repeating baseless innuendo; since you couldn't be bothered, you then tried to weasel out of it - repetition of lies is almost as bad as the initial utterance.

You say pedantic - I called it fact-based discussion; you should try it, you may like it.
You are entitled to your opinion, but my choice of vocabulary remains unchanged. I found it heartwarming to know that even this particular channel believed that this would be a step too far.

This is an informal forum to chat about various issues, not a legal statement or an essay submission in an exam.

I stated what people had written on the Current TV facebook page, nothing more, nothing less. I made no claims that any of the allegations had been verified in any way. If I had attempted to put forward these statements as fact, you would then have had a point.

People were free to discuss/challenge any inaccuracies as they saw fit, as indeed you did regarding one of the allegations.

My accusation that you were being unnecessarily pedantic related to your fixation on the word "confirmed".

This link has some interesting information about the country that funds Al Jazeera.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/expat/exp...t-country.html

They have money to burn and money talks, to such an extent that they can afford to buy their way onto the VM platform to show a news channel that has their own agenda/bias.

Al Jazeera claims editorial independence from the government of Qatar, but many dispute this.

I don't believe that they are gradually increasing their presence on British TV platforms with this channel for the fun of it.

Mistrust and fears of propaganda has led to many American cable customers seeing Current TV disconnected as a result of the channel being bought out by Al Jazeera.
