There's nothing wild about it. It's quite clear what has happened. Spurs wanted him but didn't want to pay the asking price, so got another club to take him at a lower price, then buy him from that club for a lower price than united were asking for. If you can't see that there is something wrong. If it was the other way round and united did this there would be uproar.
