Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
My area hasn't been doubled yet. I'm on XL, but because I have an old modem, I only get 20meg rather than 30 meg.
My understanding from the information I saw when the speed doubling was announced was that when my area was doubled and XL went from 30meg to 60meg, I would get sent a superhub free of charge and that would be it. I can recall no mention that recieving the superhub would put people on a new 12 month contract.
A month or so back, there was a message for me on my Virgin media, that said I could get a free upgrade to 60 meg now, prior to the doubling. When I enquired, I was told that having the 60 meg before the speed doubling had reached my area would incurr a new 12 month contract, which is fair enough. They said that if I waited untill my area was doubled, the Superhub would be sent for free and there would be no new 12 month contract.
Speaking to VM today, they said that when my area is doubled next year, that I would be sent the superhub, but it would automatically incurr a new 12 month contract. Does anyone know which is the correct situation?
If both situations incurr a new 12 month contract, what is the point of waiting?
