Thanks for your advice progers. However I have now found the following thread in which BenMcr states that if you are on one of the newer 2 year retentions deals you are not also eligible for line rental saver.

Looks like a call to retentions is needed to see if it applies to my deal. Will post again once I have an answer.

Decided to ring retentions (choose option 5 moving home) this morning to make sure I got a local call centre. Confirmed that I could pay £120 for line rental saver saving £3.90 a month without any effect on my monthly discount despite this being classed as a promotional offer running to May 1914.
