well it is definitely something to do with how the traffic is being passed through the shub. Regardless of whether you use the shub or laptop as the router by default I think they use the same 192.168.1.0/24 subnet so I wouldnt have thought that would make any difference. You could always try setting some static/reserved ips though and see if that helps. The shub will be 192.168.0.1 in router mode, you can set laptop to .2 and ps3 to .3. Ideally though you want to be connecting your ps3 diectly to one of the lan ports on the shub and not daisy chaining it to your laptop.

I have never used a PS3 before but are their any network info/settings you could look at to make sure it is seeing the shub as the default gateway?
