He has always done that, no matter what channel he was broadcasting on, he normally doesnt give up hetting the interview he wants and waits for drivers to finish the interview before they come to hom. I respect him. His comment was in a joking way and David would have known that

I agree, im not saying that it was the right thing to do but i think it was a very smart move
