Thanks for your quick reply Mick, yes cable IS best and its does have a LAN socket and I do have a 100m roll of ethernet cable, but, as the router and TV are at opposite corners of a large room with fireplace and wide patio door in the way, trying to avoid running a cable.
The Toshiba dongle cost near £30, so, would prefer to have use of the money paid.
In working with many bits of gear connected to the wireless side of the Virgin cable broadband, using a bridge has not cropped up. I will look into it. I have posted a query into the Virgin Forums.
