Incorrect Tivo Sound Description

I know most programmes on BBC 1 HD don't have Dolby D sound. However I've noticed since having Tivo most BBC 1 HD programmes on the info button say the sound is Dolby D. Despite selecting Dolby D sound my amp insist the sound is stereo.

In addition if I switch the TiVo on and go to bbc 1 hd the sound according to my amp is stereo (mostly). If I then switch to discovery hd the sound according to my amp changes to Dolby D. When I then switch back to bbc 1 hd my amp says the sound is still Dolby D. If I switch the amp off and back on without touching the tivo my amp says the sound is stereo again.
