NAS Solution for the home

I would now like to move into the 21st century regarding a home network solution. The main motivation for this is to be able to share files over multiple devices over the house, and stream media to my ps3.

I am looking at either the QNAP TS-212 or Synology DS212J NAS out of a box solutions. I would like to run something like Sickbeard/Couch Potato on this too.

Wonderign if anyone has got something similar set up - and whether they could recommend something for me. Is there an alternative solution.

The storage device/NAS will be plugged directly into the super hub.

Also on a separate note - when I lug my laptop directly into the superhub via ethernet cable I get 60m connection. Over wifi its only 20meg. Why is the difference so high? Is there anything I can do to the superhub to increase WIFI speed? Or do I need a new laptop?
