changing from an old wired Router to a new Wireless Router ?

Hi all, i know a nice lady who is struggling with a very ancient and very large Dell tower, she is getting an iPad2 for Christmas (which will be entirely adequate for her needs), i am going to be the chosen one to help her set it up !.

She currently connects to the Internet with a very ancient NTL/Virgin Media Wired Router.

I dont know why, but Virgin Media posted her, a few years ago, a brand new Wireless Router which is still unopened.

I am trying to visualise ANY problems she might have if she uses this Wireless Router in place of her current ancient Router.

It probably isnt a simple case of swapping them over, IS IT ? , i wish it was ?

What problems am i likely to face please ? Do i have to phone up Support for an IP address or something similar, Please help, i would like this transition to be as foolproof as is humanly possible.

I have just discovered, reading a nearby post, that connecting an iPad to a Wireless Virgin Media Router isnt without problems anyway !!!!.

My missus has an iPad2 which i could take to this ladies house for a DUMMY run beforehand if i had to, if there is likely to be a problem ON CHRISTMAS DAY !!!!

TIM
