This is crucial yet is almost wilfully ignored in a rush to find someone to blame for the actions of a man who is cannot be held to account. We know he was a paedophile so how could these people not know? It's easy to be wise in hindsight. It's entirely different if the guy is a national hero, you're not aware of any
substantial claims made against him, but you've heard from many that he is a 'dirty old man' (as people euphemistically put it).
