Indeed ,when he was in charge of programming he was told that the newsnight investigation may mean he would have to change the Christmas schedule regarding the planned Savile tribute, he merely said "keep me updated" not "how serious is this" .Christmas scheduling is probably the most important time for any program maker and scheduler so i think a few more pertinant questions should have been asked .
