That said it's not certain the senate will fall under Republican control at the moment, the tides have shifted since August to the point where the Democrats would retain a narrow majority. However it doesn't really matter since neither will have a outright majority (2/3rd) to overturn vetoes from the White House or to overrule filibusters. The senate will be, for a lot of purposes, a draw no matter what happens.
