Well I for one am going to try to either use a VL XP to upgrade to win 8 and leave the win 7 version on the laptop as is or to test how clever it is I will also try and use it upgrade a inactivated version of win 7 see if it lets it upgrade

All that it said was to qualify you had to buy a windows 7 version after July 2nd iirc they do not stipulate you have to use that version to upgrade as they know nothing about it anyway . They did not ask for key or any details
