bit of a sweeping statement..After all what about Sir Philip Craven who gave the speech to open and close the Paralympics.

Sir Philip Craven has been President of the International Paralympic Committee since 2001 and is also a member of the International Olympic Committee. In 2005 he received a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
He is a five-time Paralympian in Wheelchair Basketball and Swimming, and was President of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation from 1988-2002.
In 2006 Sir Philip received the Juan Antonio Samaranch Disabled Athlete Award, recognising all he has done for the world of sport. Sir Philip is currently a Director of the BOA and Vice President of the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association.
He sat on the board of the London 2012 bid company. Sir Philip has also been awarded Honorary Degrees from several Universities for his services to Paralympic Sport and is the Patron of the English Basketball Fellowship.
