that's cool dude, I was suggesting you set it to N only as a test to see what sort of speed you get. The problem you get with mixed mode is that every device has to run at the slowest speed so if you have got a b, g and n device connected to the router, the router will run at b speed (11mbits) and every device will run at b.
You dont need a special n dongle, any and all should work fine with your router. You can have a look here
