As a non-sports-player (and not normally
that interested in watching it) of course I would say that just taking part is an achievement in itself and getting
any medal is fantastic. But then I can also understand that if you have worked towards getting "The Big G" for the last however-many years then I can see how
not getting it is going to be
really upsetting.
(For the record I missed out on my own 'Big G' at the
HBA awards back in 2009; but I consoled myself with the fact that I was still one of the Top Ten Newcomers in the country

ie at least I made the finals!)
