The username and password on the back of the shub are the credentials you enter on the shub login page (http:192.168.0.1) to authenticate yourself and access the GUI. From there you can setup your wireless network and configure the SSID and more importantly your password. You can then tell your blu ray player to scan for wireless networks, picks your up, enter your password and all the info it needs for ip, default gateway etc etc should be sent automatically.

If you have any problems with your wireless keep dropping out (which I am sure you will) use a wired connection. You can get a 20m cat5e cable for a few £ and tack it round the wall.
We have no issues with 3 tablets, Panasonic BluRay player, a Tosh Laptop, a Lenovo laptop, an Xbox360, a Wii, and a couple of smartphones attaching to the SH without drop-outs, so your statement may be true in your circumstance, but not as the blanket condemnation as you have made. Some people have had problems, some haven't - sweeping statements aren't helpful.

You couldn't be any more negative if you spent all day gaining electrons....
