As I can see from the Broadband Quality Monitor graph from ThinkBroadband, I did notice others with this issue around 4 am and 6pm. I don't know if that is linked to my downstream power level as it was working fine before. It's been fine for the past 24 hours bar getting kicked of Xbox for 1 minute but got back on the xbox fine. My son is much at this then I am, we are on 20mb with an old Virgin router connecting to a D Link. I don't really know what I should do now any ideas?.

No the problem around 4 & 6 am has nothing to do with your power levels
Seems was problem with VM network
Having lower power levels may occur quality issues with your connection
-8db is low but i had -12 with out issues for the broadband but some TV channels was cracking & some can not been seen, as an example
I suggest to book the appointment with the engineer ...is free, no charge for it
