The TV is connected to TiVo via HDMI. I have an amp connected to TiVo via TiVo's optical out

Yes, a little. But nowhere near as badly as HD

Have noticed it a little on Sky Living, but only occasionally (but don't watch much on that channel though to be honest). I noticed on one of the movie channels last summer when I last subscribed, but since re-subscribing I haven't yet noticed a problem

My TV doesn't have an optical out

As the sound goes directly from TiVo to amp I'm guessing this part is not necessary and wouldn't make a difference?

My amp doesn't have this feature.

Switched Dolby Digital to PCM and that did make a small difference, but still not perfectly in sync (and also lose the Dolby Digital this way as my amp shows AUTO ST.

Same as above.

I then switched my amp off and turned the TV speaker sound on, so was watching and hearing everything through the HDMI connection straight to the TV and the sound seemed much closer to being in sync. It didn't look 100% but cricket isn't the easiest to judge that on given the speed of the ball/bat etc. However, it was watchable. When I last had Sky Sports I tried using the TV sound when watching football and that did seem a little less out of sync than through my amp, but it still wasn't right.

Conclusion as of tonight seems to be that the problem may lie with my amp? It is quite an old amp, but I've never had problems before only with Sky channels on TiVo. Although, thinking about it, when I used to subscribe to Sky I had this kind of problem with most of the channels. However, the Sky+HD boxes had a setting to delay the Dolby Digital audio, which resolved the problem. Maybe VM could introduce something similar, as I know I'm not the only person that experiences this problem.

Anyway, thank you for your help, Spiderplant. Much appreciated.
