While on Ex-Telewest pretty much everywhere all the uBR/CMTS connect to a GEAM on ex-ntl the older uBRs which house the 10Mb and occasionally some 20Mb customers are connected to Cable Access Modules, cams, which then go off to cores. The DOCSIS 3.0 CMTS which serve 100Mb, 50Mb and 30Mb along with some of the 20Mb and occasionally 10Mb customers connect directly to a core. With ex-Telewest any site that has a CMTS/uBR will have a GEAM at the same physical site to connect to, with ex-ntl these devices connect to a switch at the local site which doesn't show up in traceroutes then go off to a PoP / headend where they go onto cams or cores.
