Dandy Boy will try to bridge the gap between handicap company and Group One class after being supplemented for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday.

Trained by David Marnane, Dandy Boy was last seen winning the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and has been added to the field at Headquarters to the tune of £30,000.

Marnane told At The Races: "He pleased us going into Ascot and has pleased us as much, if not more, since coming out of Ascot. We sat down and had a good chat, he won well at Ascot and we decided to take our chance."

Ladbrokes St Leger second-favourite Michelangelo is more likely to take in a Classic trial at Glorious Goodwood than run at Newmarket this Thursday.

Michelangelo represents John Gosden, winner of the Leger for the last two seasons, and the trainer is thinking of running Shantaram in this week's Bahrain Trophy instead.

"I'm not sure we'll run both of them - Shantaram will probably run and we were more thinking of the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood with Michelangelo," Gosden said.
