Re: R36 Firmware Beta Test (was R35)

Hub must have updated overnight only noticed it this morning when I actually had a wireless connection on my phone upstairs for the first time in months

Not too sure on the new GUI but thats probably just because I'm not familiar with it yet (every other router, hub, ap etc I've ever dealt with has the traditional left side menu)

My wireless signal strength has increased by an average 9db according to inSSIDer (A major improvement!) No dead spots around the house or garden now

After reconfiguring for 300Mbps (had defaulted back to 144) Wireless speeds were lower than previous firmware and adaptor stuck at 65Mbps and sitting 6ft from hub only gave me 48Mb on a 100Mb connection. After reading a few posts on the trial forum and some trial and error, it turns out it was OBSS killing my connection. Turned it off, wireless connection speed has increased to 135Mbps and I'm actually hitting 97-101Mb wireless download on my 100mb connection and 9.7Mb wireless upload. I'm actually impressed!

Jitter has dropped from an average 6.92ms to an average 2.74ms but no real change to latency - 12.88ms average from 15.2ms average and no change to routing.

No change to downstream power levels and snr:

Power Level (dBmV) 1.3 dBmV 2.4 dBmV 2.3 dBmV 1.8 dBmV
RxMER (dB) 41.9 dB 42.6 dB 42.5 dB 42.5 dB

No change to upstream:

Power Level (dBmV) 44.8 dBmV

If it stays like this then I'll be quite a happy bunny. Only down side for me up to now is that there's still no option for custom DNS servers or Dyndns settings

Going to throw some heavy duty use - File transfers, Multi thread downloads and HD Media streaming at it tonight to see if I can make it roll over as easily as the R30.

Cheers

Phil
