I highly doubtful that Rangers players would want to cut their wages and join a smaller Scottish Football club like Hearts (who cannot afford them anyway!)

Also a Rangers player joining Celtic (or the other way round) is a taboo and is very rare, so they will join clubs outside Scotland. This means that gap between Celtic and other club will be even bigger since other Scottish clubs are not doing well either (at least Rangers are a challege to Celtic)
