Because of their money resources, Sky leads the way in so many areas and VM's once killer advantage, fibre broadband, is now no longer there because Sky now offer that. VM even seem slow on maximising the advantages of Tivo (multi room, ipad, decent connected content etc.), presumably due to lack of money.
Personally, I find VM as a company very good, and there is always the risk that customer service can suffer when taken over by a bigger company, so that is a concern. Tivo leaves the Sky box way behind in my view, but it is the only thing that they lead sky on technology wise. With a cable company with more money, it would be great to see Sky trying to catch up and not being able to rule the roost on TV channels.

I feel that a combined EE/VM will dominate the telecoms maket and present a challege to BT and Sky, I tell you what why don't Sky sell their TV, Phone and Broadband divsion (in exchange for BT's Sports Broadcasting assets) to BT.
This will mean (if TalkTalk can make a sucess out of YourView) that the UK will have 3 major telcom companies competing with each other for TV/Phone/Internet and Sky will focus on bradcasting (maybe we will get more of their services!)
