if that is what he has told you then he doesnt know what he is talking about, and if you dont know what you are doing either then I bet he has royally screwed you over. You have got the Rolls Royce of routers and basically what you have let him do atm is get a tow cable and hook it up to the back of a Skoda.

If the shub isnt in modem mode then it is still handling all the routing and wireless which makes having the E4200 pointless. If your connection issues were actually down to upstream power problems then you should be able to put the shub in modem mode no probs now and the E4200 should take over. Where do you live roughly?
