Every service man has an influence over the wars they are fighting. That's the joy of being a human being, free will.

If you are told to go fight in an illegal war, which both Iraq and Afghanistan are and have been, then you are well within your rights to tell them where to go shove their orders and leave the service. Instead most choose to go and commit murder in the name of the British government under the guise of "freedom". Emphasis on illegal.

They aren't fighting for our civil liberties, the only people they are in danger of being rescinded by are the bigwigs in power right here on our own soil.

I can see where he's coming from to an extent, and if the soldiers "knew" any better, i suppose i could agree with him, but they don't, they are just doing their job in their own minds and the majority of everyone else's which obviously is why it is seen as "shocking". I have my own views on the armed forces, but i don't share his view here.
